A groundbreaking ceremony has taken place four years ahead of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games, at the site of Vancouver’s Olympic Village – Southeast False Creek. During the Games the village will house about 2,800 athletes and officials and following the 2010 Games it will be converted to serve as a mixed-use community - an example for sustainable living. Wow - the athletes already have their accommodations for Whister Olympics, but I thought they would be staying in Whistler. The long treck up to Whistler for the games is a bit of a toll for the Olympians. TURIN, Italy (CP) - Now it’s Canada’s turn. The countdown to the 2010 Games in Vancouver officially began Sunday as the Turin Olympics came to a close. As Italy said goodbye with clowns, acrobats and pint-sized Fiats, Canada said hello with ice fishermen, hockey players, Avril Lavigne and a First Nations chief.
