Whistler Vacation Rentals

Tuesday, March 21st, 2006

Another vacation rental in Whistler I found that hosts some exquisite accommodations is Whistler Executive Accommodations.
Whistler Executive Accommodations offers high-end, executive homes and log cabins, as well as chalets, town homes or condos. Vacation rentals are available throughout the ski season, spring and fall and summer golf season. Numerous Whistler Executive Accommodations rental properties come with private hot tubs and range in size from one bedroom to eight bedroom and are located in various parts of Whistler and Blackcomb including ski-in ski-out locations.

Tourists seeking hotels in Whistler should consider the alternative benefits in renting a condo for their lodging accomodations. Most Whistler Executive Accommodations and vacation rentals come full-equipped with full cooking facilities, luxury living space, washer/dryer, private hot tubs, heated slate floors, exceptional mountain views and professional, friendly staff.

Whistler and Blackcomb is a four season resort where the summer season now attracts more toursits and visitors than the winter ski season. While skiing in Whistler is the origin of the resort, golfing is a major summer attraction. Hiking the alpine meadows, or downhill mountain bike riding are popular summer mountain activities. In the winter, downhill skiing, cross country skiing, and snowboarding is the order of the day in this popular ski resort.

So if you’re visiting Whistler and Blackcomb, entertain the option of checking out Whistler Executive Accommodations and their vacation rentals in Whistler of top-notch homes and service for your holiday.

Vancouver 2010 Breaks Ground for Olympic Village Accommodations

A groundbreaking ceremony has taken place four years ahead of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games, at the site of Vancouver’s Olympic Village – Southeast False Creek. During the Games the village will house about 2,800 athletes and officials and following the 2010 Games it will be converted to serve as a mixed-use community - an example for sustainable living. More on the Olympic accommodations here.

Wow - the athletes already have their accommodations for Whister Olympics, but I thought they would be staying in Whistler. The long treck up to Whistler for the games is a bit of a toll for the Olympians. I mean, I figure with all the vacation rentals in Whistler, and accommodations in Whistlers for vacations to Whistler and Blackcomb, that there would be a village built there for the Olympians.

I mean, look at Squamish. That place is being developed like there is no tomorrow. Why not house the accommodations for Vancouver 2010 Olympians ? Well, who really knows, but as I live down the road from these new accommodations for Vancouver 2010 Olympians, I may check out the progress this week.

Vancouver 2010 Sea-To-Sky Highway Expansion Controversy

Accommodations in Whistler Affected by Sea-to-Sky?

Well, the party is almost over for Turin Olympics now that that the Paralympic Games are coming to an end, and now all eyes are looking to the next Winter Olympics in Vancouver and Whistler in 2010.
There is already a major controversy over preparations for the 2010 Games – the expansion of the Sea-to-Sky Highway that connects Vancouver to Squamish to Whistler, once called the Achilles heel of Vancouver’s 2010 bid.

It seems the new expansion will run through two fragile ecosystems and will be destroyed if it goes ahead.

So, what affect will this have on accommodations in Whistler or vacation rentals in Vancouver during the 2010 Olympics in Whistler? Hard to say at this point, but trust me if the highway is not expanded to accommodate the travelling to and from Whistler to Vancouver, and vice versa, you can bet most tourists and people visiting for the Olympics will be staying in Vancouver vacation rentals and accommodations, and simply catch the Olympic game events in town. Why not Whistler? Well, by the time the Olympics are here, the accommodations and rentals in Whistler will likely be maxed to capacity. Zero vacancy. So how many people will then travel the drive from Vancouver to Whistler to catch an event - well, some, but if the Sea to Sky highway is not expanded, many will likely not make that trip and simply stay in Vancouver and catch the local events.

The alternative - well, people visiting British Columbia can stay for their vacation in Squamish vacation rentals or Pemberton accommodations. There are inbetween Vancouver and Whistler, and Pemberton - just outside of Whistler…by an hour or less I believe.

Where will I stay - I’m aiming to find a vacation rental, such as a condo or townhouse or cabin in Whistler, but time will tell, as Whistler will book for vacations fast when 2010 approaches.

Olympic Flag Passed onto Vancouver Mayor

TURIN, Italy (CP) - Now it’s Canada’s turn. The countdown to the 2010 Games in Vancouver officially began Sunday as the Turin Olympics came to a close. As Italy said goodbye with clowns, acrobats and pint-sized Fiats, Canada said hello with ice fishermen, hockey players, Avril Lavigne and a First Nations chief.

Vancouver Mayor Sam Sullivan accepted the white flag with five rings from International Olympic Committee president Jacques Rogge during the closing ceremonies of the Turin Winter Games. Read more on 2010 Whistler winter games.
