Vancouver 2010 and Whistler 2010 Accommodations to Rent

Tuesday, July 4th, 2006

Only 4 years away from Vancouver 2010 Olympics and accommodations in Whistler and Vancouver are already starting to book.

As the Olympics approach, places to rent in Whistler (hotels, owner direct, cottages, cabins) and accommodations in Vancouver (owner direct, hotels, etc.) will book fast.

Vacation rentals in Whistler will be limited as the city can only host so many places to stay, and tourists to Whistler may have to accommodate and find a rentals in nearby cities as Squamish and Pemberton.

The good part - the Olympic events in 2010 will take place both in Whistler and Vancouver - so why not call it Whistler 2010 and Vancouver 2010 - well, either works fine with locals.

2010 Whistler accommodations and 2010 Vancouver accommodations will be in high demand, and securing a place to stay with the best ameneties as a hot tub, 2-3 a bathrooms and bedrooms, luxury kitchen and more will become scarce.

On the best places to stay during the 2010 Olympics may just be Squamish (ha ha Squamish 2010). Why? Well, Squamish resides inbetween Whistler and Vancouver - so anyone travelling to check out the Olympic events will have a perfect fit right inbetween the two cities, with immediate acccess along the sea to sky highway.

If I were to find a 2010 vacation rental - I’d opt for Vancouver and find someone to swap for the remainder in Whistler (Whistler 2010 accommodations for rent)- though finding someone will be difficult. Alternatively, get online, make some new penpals in Whistler and Vancouver and stay at their place - a cheap way to go.

So if you’re thinking of visiting Vancouver in 2010 and Whistler in 2010 and seeking accommodations for 2010 Olympics, I’d suggest booking now - and go the route of Owner-Direct so you get all the amenities privately to yourself.

Whistler Accommodation Hotel Offers Funky Digs

Tuesday, July 4th, 2006

Vacation Rental in Whistler - with a twist.
Looking for some boutique chic for your next getaway in Whistler? The designer Adara Hotel in Whistler, BC, Canada, which opened in January, takes a decidedly cheeky attitude with the traditional ski chalet. Yes, you can rent Whistler accommodations. From the moment you enter the Adara, you’re greeted by modern twists with retro throwbacks. A series of hot-pink resin antlers by Seattle artist Erich Ginder overlook the lobby while sheepskin throws grace the vinyl-back couches. You feel as though you’ve entered someone’s funky basement, in a 1970s house that’s been redone and injected with contemporary cool.

And location is a key advantage for the Adara, particularly over other luxury hotels in the area of Whistler. So next time your looking for an accommodation in Whistler, BC, Canada, this Whistler accommodations is a must stay place! Located steps from Whistler Village, the hotel not only offers visitors a stylish alternative to the usual ski cabins, but also the ever important quick access to the slopes. It takes only minutes to walk to the gondolas for either Blackcomb or Whistler mountains. The 41 guestrooms, which range from superior queen rooms to two-bedroom loft suites, bring forward contrasting elements between the natural and synthetic. Next to the striking mountain views, you can admire the abstract wall art and laminate furniture showcasing playful wood-grain prints, rather than real woods. The beds feature custom, painted log headboards juxtaposed against mirrored nightstands and faux fur blankets. Even the shower door boasts the print of a log pile. Who knows - maybe they’ll soon expand to accommodations in Sun Peaks, orĀ  Big White accommodations.
However, the open-concept shower itself leaves one rather befuddled since the door doesn’t actually close. While this is supposed to offer a spa-like shower experience, it turns out to be more of a chilly one. Good thing there’s the intriguing “floating” fireplace to warm you up afterwards. It has a hologram effect of a fire suspended in mid-air and, depending on your state of mind, could offer hours of amusement. And don’t forget your iPod, as every room in this Whistler accommodations comes equipped with its own docking station. As Whistler’s first and only member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World, Adara steps things up in the resort town, by offering contemporary design and indulgences such as fresh bath and body products, and a Bodum French coffee press. In fact, the Adara was selected by both the Grammy awards and Screen Actors Guild awards to be part of their presenter gift packages. But, as a new hotel, it still has a few glitches to work out. First, the Adara is not actually a new building. Instead, it takes over the haunts of the former Timberline Lodge.
While maintaining the rustic wood and stone construction, the older foundation also presents a sound issue. As the walls are rather thin, noise is a real problem both within the hotel and beyond. The Whistler hotel does thoughtfully provide earplugs in the rooms, but that leads one to believe that the din will be a permanent wrinkle in the otherwise soothing surroundings. And, even though the Adara has made arrangements to have in-room dining available through the lovely Bearfoot Bistro across the way, it’s currently only available during the evening. This makes mornings challenging for those who prefer breakfast in bed. So your Whistler accommodations where you seeking Whistler places to rent with breakfast in bed - well, this accommodates the need. That being said, however, the Adara does offer a touch of the unusual in ski vacation accommodation; there really isn’t anything else like it in Whistler. And it’s a good unusual - the kind that makes your stay more special and memorable. If it’s super high-end luxury you’re after, you’re better off sticking with the big brands. But if you want a bit of fun, uniqueness and quirkiness along with comfort, the Adara is where it’s at in Whistler, British Columbia, Canada.
