Whistler Resort #4

Thursday, October 19th, 2006

Ok, the headline may throw you off. “Winter resorts open for business”??? But aren’t the leaves just starting to change colour? Well, the cold snaps are doing wonders for the ski resorts and their not holding back.

Ski Magazine’s October issue has come out with its annual readers poll of the top 10 resorts, with separate lists for ice warriors in the East and powder fiends in the West. East coast who?

For the West (top 5):

  1. Vail, Colorado
  2. Deer Valley, Utah
  3. Snowmass, Colorado
  4. Whistler / Blackcomb, British Columbia, Canada
  5. Park City, Utah

Ok, the rest had a majority out of Colorado (I think the writer for the article is from Colorado). In our books, Whistler, BC, Canada should be at the top, especially considering the recent expansion of the mountain. Plus, put aside the white stuff for a moment, all season around, the accommodations in Whistler are top notch.

Surprisingly Big White and Silver Star didn’t make the list, though in my opinion if you get a chance to travel and stay in a Big White accommodations or Silver Star accommodations, you won’t regret the trip - though Whistler accommodations are in a class of their own.

Travellers Guide to Winter Skiing & Snowboarding in North America

Thursday, October 19th, 2006

Brrrrr…..what just happened? One day we had that nice sunny warm weather here in Whistler, and now, well….we still go the sun but that cold breeze brings back memories of last years fall season. That’s right, it’s that time of year again. Fall is back and winter ski and snowboard season is right around the corner, and the local BC ski resorts are getting prepared.

For those visiting British Columbia for the upcoming ski season, be sure to visit the winter vacation resorts in Whistler, Squamish, Pemberton and Big White. And while your planning your winter vacation, be sure to book your accommodation and lodging early. Whistler has a range of luxury accommodations to rent to those owner-direct condo’s and lodges to pile the friends and family in for a week of winter fun.

So if you’re travelling to BC, Canada for this winter season, have a peak at the North West Telegraph Traveller’s Guide To: Skiing and snowboarding in North America.
