Got Whistler Accommodations?

Friday, November 30th, 2007

Technology is amazing. When I was a kid, the best way to experience someone else’s Whistler vacation was to look through a photo album. If I was lucky, I could watch a slide show while listening to the travelers retell the tales of cruising down the slopes at Whistler Blackcomb. And if I was really luck, those travelers would have a video tape, complete with their own narration of what was happening. But not today. Today’s technology has advanced to digital recorders and easy access to editing software that allows the average person to create short movies set to a catchy soundtrack. Those clips can be uploaded to all sorts of online sites and shared with the world. With the amount of Whistler vacation footage found on the internet, it’s clear that travelers to Whistler BC Canada have fabulous times. If you haven’t already reserved your Whistler accommodations for this winter season, this Whistler video will at least get you thinking about taking time off for your own Whistler vacation. (more…)

Travelers Head to Whistler BC Canada for the Snow

Wednesday, November 28th, 2007

Mother Nature sure has a way about her. Sometimes, she grants your every wish and delivers fresh, soft2059635263_45ec1c2cce_b.jpg powder to the ski slopes just in time for your annual trip to the mountains. It’s like she’s giving you this amazing gift to rewards you for hard work of everyday living. But other times, she denies your deepest longings and sends dry weather instead. Not to punish you; but to tell you that she has something else in mind for your time off. Thankfully, Mother Nature is granting the wishes of travelers headed to Whistler BC Canada this winter season. She has already delivered 37 inches of snow. And it’s just the beginning of the 2007 vacation season. Apparently, skiing, snowboarding, and enjoying winter weather is what Mother Nature has in store for you on your Whistler vacation this yearFolks planning trips to other popular ski areas of North America for winter weather may need to rethink their options. According to reports, many of the more widely visited resorts in Colorado have had to delay opening due to poor winter weather conditions. Snow doesn’t fall too well in a spring-like environment. Sure if you are a die-hard skier, you can take your rock skis. But, if it’s not too late, you can also change your plans and head north to Whistler Blackcomb in Canada. (more…)

Whistler Accommodations a perk for employees

Monday, November 26th, 2007

In Whistler BC Canada, employers are getting creative with their benefits packages. Thanks to the largeĀ  increase in construction workers building the venues for the 2010 Olympic Games, long-term lodging and housing accommodations are getting tough to secure. Limited accommodations combined with an overall reduction in people wanting to spend the winter season on the slopes have prompted many Whistler businesses to rethink their benefits packages. Free ski passes are common perks for any employee working in Whistler. And since many employers face staff shortages than is typical for most winter seasons, finding the right mix of benefits to attract quality workers is key. (more…)

Go Green at Your Whistler Rental

Friday, November 23rd, 2007

In the late 1980s and early 1990s, it was hard to go anywhere without hearing or seeing the phrase Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. The message with those three R words was clear: our planet is suffering thanks to our abundance of trash and our carefree nature that habitually and nonchalantly disposes of it. In the beginning of those days of global awareness, we focused more of our conservation efforts towards recycling. While the global population has made some progress through those efforts, today’s environmentalists are more concerned with the first of those three little words: Reduce. More specifically, reducing our carbon footprint. Turn on the news or listen to the radio and you’re sure to hear the latest recommendations for what we can do individually to reduce our impact on our environment; to improve, or even begin our efforts to live a green lifestyle. And in some parts of the world, such as Whistler BC Canada, community councils are enforcing fines to people who carelessly add to the world’s carbon footprint. (more…)

A Whistler Thanksgiving Vacation Holiday

Wednesday, November 21st, 2007

310563889_e0d672b353_m.jpgThanksgiving. It’s that time of year when Americans join together with family and friends to celebrate and give thanks for the goodness in their lives. Good health, a well-paying job, a house to keep family warm and dry, and food on the table every day are high on the list of today’s traditional “thank you’s” that are most remembered. According to history lessons, the first Thanksgiving was held between Native Americans and the early settlers who managed survive through a harsher than expected winter, horrid summer drought, and then a downpour of rain that seemed never ending. Those less than desirable living and weather conditions were unanticipated and probably had the new residents wondering what they’d gotten themselves into. While today’s annual feast almost always includes turkey, stuffing, and pumpkin pie, the first Thanksgiving foods were most likely corn, apples, and other foods that provided plentiful crops that year. Thanksgiving then was a time to praise God for the bountiful harvests that would provide sustenance to the people in the land. (more…)
