Whistler Blackcomb Mountain via Podcast

If the recent snowfall in Whistler Canada hasn’t prompted you to find your vacation rental, for your winter vacation, Whistler’s new podcast series surely will. Launched on November 15, these podcasts will allow regular sneak peaks of top athletes gliding gracefully down the slopes, behind the scenes footage of folks and machines that keep the mountains beautiful, and details of hot events in the area. Dubbed Whistler Blackcomb Snowcasts, these regularly scheduled episodes are set to air every second Thursday. And with a production team of folks who were key to the making of shows like Survivor, Amazing Race, and Eco Challenge, audiences are sure to be wowed. The launch of the Whistler Snowcast is great for two reasons. Regular video footage will help local travelers get excited about what to expect during their own Whistler ski vacations. Plus, with the upcoming Whistler 2010 Olympics, the podcasts very well may encourage an increase of international travelers to Whistler before the winter sports competitions are broadcast all over the (more…)

Opening day for Whistler skiing is November 22. For those of you planning your winter visit to Whistler BC Canada, that’s less than 10 days away. It’s hard to believe that the official ski season is about to begin. Can you feel the cold air rush through your hair as you slide down Whistler Mountain on your freshly waxed skis? Can you hear the gentle crunch of the snow under your feet as you walk to the lodge to take your first hot chocolate break of the day? Whistler Canada is a great place to come when you need to get away from your daily drama. Long commutes and traffic jams get tiring after a while. So do conference calls and business meetings. Whistler Blackcombs Impact from a Strong Loonie

Canadian Dollar vs. US DollarWhistler thrives on tourism and international visitors. Where else can you ride a chairlift and meet half a dozen people from different parts of the globe, all visiting the town of Whistler, BC, Canada for the white powder of the winter season.

A number of American’s, who make up a good portion of tourism to Whistler, travel up north to Whistler Blackcomb, BC, Canada for their winter vacation. Though with the soaring loonie and increased fees in cross-border transportation, many American’s may opt to take in their winter vacation more locally - Utah, Colorado or Montana.

The sharp increase in the Canadian dollar will affect the pilgrimage to Whistler this year as American’s review their costs to travel and their accommodations in Whistler. While some would say the luxury lodging and accommodation market in Whistler is worth its price, many American’s and other travelers will think twice about their spending habits. (more…)
