Bonus reason to find Whistler lodging this month
Residents of Whistler Canada are excited to host the 2010 Winter Olympics. Not only will the world’s number one ranked ski resort get showcased on televisions across the globe while top winter sport athletes compete for coveted Olympic gold medals, but the area’s art and culture scene will also have an amazing opportunity to share their talents and educate the masses. If you’re vacationing in Whistler during the month of February, you will enjoy the area’s annual Celebration 2010 events that highlight and exhibit the culture and talents of local artists, musicians, and actors of all types.
The month long celebration, which began in 2003 and is sponsored by the Whistler Arts Council, will include individual and group performances and exhibits from a variety of disciplines and genres. And guests visiting Whistler BC this week will have even more to entertainment and events to look forward to when the skiing and snowboarding is done for the day and you’re not yet ready to return to your Whistler Vacation Rental. It is much more exciting to check out the local scene and experience a bit of the culture when on vacation than it is to simply hibernate in your Whistler accommodations. Beautiful and cozy as your Whistler lodging may be, experiencing Whistler’s local culture and artisans is food for the soul.
If I could pick any time to travel to Whistler, aside from going during the 2010 Winter Olympics, I would go in February. I learn best about my world by watching and experience others in action. For me, being surrounded by people who love to express themselves through creative talents and are willing to share their works with the public inspires my spirit and uplifts my soul. To visit such a scenic and beautiful place, like Whistler Canada, when the local artists, musicians, and performers are even more encouraged to showcase and celebrate their talents would be amazing.
For the lucky travelers to Whistler Blackcomb this month, enjoy the pristine beauty of the mountains, stay warm and cozy in your accommodations, and savor the eclectic culture and art that you will experience. Just reading the Whistler Celebration 2010 program schedule makes me wish I was there myself!
