Whistler Blackcomb Excalibur Gondola Collapses

The day before the first winter snow storm hits Vancouver, and Whistler gets its first causality.
Whistler, BC, Canada, home of the 2010 winter Olympics, was hit with an unfortunate accident when 10 people were injured after skiers and snowboarders were evacuated from this ski hill, when the Whistler Excalibur Gondola support tower collapsed.
Not the best image Whistler wants to portray considering this will be the home of the Olympic site. The Whistler Blackcomb gondola tower snapped in half, leaving no threatening injuries to its passengers. However, more than 50 skiers and snowboarders were rescued during this incident. (more…)
