Whistler Launches Inaugural Jazz Festival

The newest Jazz festival to arrive in Canada September 2nd to 4th 2011 is hosted by Whistler. Presented in the Village with ticketed and free outdoor and indoor shows this is a one of a kind opportunity to meet personally, jazz greats and experience firsthand, the performances.

The producer and founder of “Jazz on the Mountain at Whistler”, Arnold Schwisberg has announced an astounding line-up of performers for the inaugural celebration on Labour Day’s weekend in September. The launch of the official website for the Festival will also be launched.

Everyone can experience the street festival because it’s free and has face painting, acoustic musicians, acrobats and jugglers. If you have a ticket for a show, you will be seeing some of the greatest jazz artists in the world actually doing a performance in an “up close and personal” setting. Now that’s cool!

This 3 day festival features 33 shows and 22 performers and tickets are april7available for sale April 5th. Anyone in the mood for Jazz? Get ready for an experience of a lifetime at Whistler’s jazz festival!

In conjunction with Whistler Arts Council, there will be some awesome free street entertainment throughout the village. Events in need of a ticket are in the “Maurice Young Millennium Place” as well as outside.

There is also a unique element of education to this Festival. Impassioned young musicians get a chance to observe a “Jazz Master Class Series” for playing guitar right in the centre of the Whistler Village.

The stage is being set for “Jazz on the Mountain at Whistler” to become one of the best avant-garde jazz festivals in Canada. And the chances are high for this happening because Schwisberg is a lawyer who has such passion for jazz that it led him to have a career as a TV and radio host as well as a producer at Universal Music and a jazz consultant in both Toronto and Montreal.

And with that kind of profile “Jazz on the Mountain at Whistler” personifies the next millennium of all jazz festivals.

Come join this highly interactive and intimate festival for an experience in jazz like no other this Labour Day weekend in Whistler!
