Saturday, July 5th, 2008

Invited to a friends cottage or accommodation in Whistler, BC, Canada this summer? Below are a few tips when staying at a friends place of Whistler lodging over the summer holidays.

I don’t own a cottage or a cabin, but several of my friends do and I am one of those lucky people who get invited up for a weekend.

Now, anyone can get invited up once, the trick is getting invited back. Here are some tips to guarantee that your weekend at a cottage won’t be a fleeting memory in your past.

Food Tips:

– Ask what the host would like you to bring. If they say “Nothing” they’re lying. Every host wants you to bring something, they just don’t want to sound like they want you to bring something, but believe me, they want you to bring something, unless they’re independently wealthy and they love (more…)

Weakened U.S. economy seen as key obstacle to summer growth in resort.

After significant growth in summer visitation to Whistler over the past two summers, Tourism Whistler (TW) officials are predicting that numbers in summer 2008 will be the same as last year — largely because of the weakened U.S. economy.

Bamja.com, one of Whistler Blackcombs major rental accommodation online community’s of privately owned accommodations and lodging for rent by owners in Whistler, BC, Canada, offers the the solution to help owners help fill their rental property vacanies leading up to, during and after the 2010 Olympics, hosted in Vancouver and Whistler.

Olympic snow boarder winter gamesA year or two ago when Vancouver and Whistler won the Olympic bid, the Olympic organizers allotted an est. ~1,800 Whistler hotel accommodations, +750 condominiums for officials, sponsors and media, and +1,600 lodging and accommodation rooms under development leading up to the 2010 Olympics.

There is large speculation that far greater lodging and accommodations in Whistler will be required to host the games and all the tourists and travellers visiting the city over the 2 week Olympic period.

While alternative options will be to rent an accommodation in nearby Squamish and Pemberton, and of course Vancouver, anyone travelling to one of North America’s best luxury ski resorts will have a eagerness to take advantage of the opportunity of the Olympic activities and settle their vacation stay right in the city of Whistler and Whistler Village. We’re dining in Whistler because mom and dad say so

Friday, January 25th, 2008

When I was a kid, my family took two vacations every year: one in the summer and one in the winter. Usually, our winter vacations were almost always to a favorite ski resort, like Whistler Blackcomb in Whistler BC Canada. And we always stayed at Whistler hotels rather than a vacation rental or other available Whistler accommodation. My parents believed that since our family of four was going to be enjoying the snow on the mountains all day every day, no one was going to want to worry about cooking anything for anybody. And since my parents did the bulk of the cooking and cleaning at home, they wanted a week off to relax too. So we stayed in Whistler hotels and did lots of dining out. (more…)
