Whistler Ski Resort is consistently rated as one of the world’s best ski resorts, and for good reason. Whistler provides consistent winter snowfall, and more runs than you can hope to cover in a week. Whistler’s also a great family friendly destination with something for everyone.

For the kids there are adventure zones, a play fort and more, and of course there are lessons for kids to help them develop their skiing and snowboarding skills. There are also plenty of activities that can be enjoyed by the whole family while visiting the Whistler Ski Resort.

Whistler Skiing

Whistler offers the largest ski resort in British Columbia, Canada, and possesses over 8000 acres of terrain on both Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains. It has continually been rated as the number one ski resort in all of North America, so for skiing it can’t be beaten!

Options for Whistler Skiers
There are skiing lessons and snowboarding lessons available at Whistler for all adults and children, no matter what level of experience. Currently, there are more than 200 trails at Whistler, accessed via 38 lifts. Whistler also boasts over 10m of snow on average each year, meaning that there are fantastic skiing conditions for the majority of the season which lasts from November until August.

Winter Activities in Whistler

A holiday in Whistler involves so much more than just hitting the slopes for skiing or snowboarding. In fact, there are a ton of fantastic winter activities that can be enjoyed by the whole family.

Ski and Snowboarding Instruction
If you’ve never been skiing before, or are a beginner, there are adult ski and snowboarding schools, as well as ski and 11-17-09snowboarding schools for the kids, too. Even if you’ve had some skiing experience, it never hurts to get a refresher or take an advanced class which will bring your skills to the next level.

Other Winter Whistler Activities

Other activities that can be enjoyed at whistler are Heli-skiing and boarding, which is something exciting for those who haven’t tried it before! Not only do you get the chance to go up in a helicopter to see the mountains from an entirely new angle, but you get a new skiing experience too.

Another great activity is snowmobiling, which is something fun and different for the whole family. There are tours that cater for people of all skills and interests. Something for the whole family, is the tube park, located in Base 2 Zone on Blackcomb Mountain, it provides an activity the entire family can enjoy, even those with no experience.

For something truly different, try a horse drawn sleigh ride. This is a great way of experiencing the beauty of the mountains, but also gives everyone a taste of a truly authentic Canadian experience. You’ll be treated to hot chocolate and blankets, while experiencing the natural beauty all around.

Whistler Vacation Condos
Naturally, if you’re planning your winter vacation at Whistler, you’ll need somewhere to stay. A Whistler condo is a fantastic form of accommodation, especially if you’re planning on staying for a long time, or are bringing along the whole family, or even a large group of people.

There are several fantastic luxury Whistler condos, ranging from smaller one bedroom condos, right up to five bedroom condos. The Orca is a five bedroom townhouse, which has been fully renovated and includes hardwood floors, quality appliances, entertainment rooms and an HDTV, bar, and quality designer furniture. It’s conveniently located to the ski slopes, and is close to Whistler Village.

It’s shaping up to be a fantastic ski season at Whistler, in Canada’s beautiful British Columbia. When the ski season officially started on Saturday, November 14, 2009, there was already a snowbase of over 100cm, and plenty of new snow coverage.

The Whistler Ski Fields
Whistler provides some of the best ski fields in Canada, and for good reason. There are over 8,100 acres of amazing mountain terrain, combining 12 bowls, 3 glaciers, and over 200 marked trails, ranging from challenging mogul fields, to peaceful tree skiing trails, and wonderfully groomed runs suiting skiers from beginners to experts.

At the top of every lift, there are beginner runs, which is great for those who haven’t yet found or developed their ski legs.

Naturally, there are also many Whistler vacation rentals and other great Whistler accommodation options for those who are planning a winter skiing or snowboarding holiday.

There are also plenty of activities for non-skier, and for those who need some time to recover from several days on the slopes. Whistler village has shops, restaurants, cafes, exciting nightlife and more.

Araxi restaurant is receiving world wide exposure from its competition for head chef on popular reality food show Gordon Ramsay’s Hell’s Kitchen.
